Cannes Security Guard Who Was Involved in the Kelly Rowland Incident Moves Actress Massiel Taveras Off the Carpet
In a recent video, actress Massiel Taveras could be seen pushing a security guard away during an incident on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.
In the video, which quickly spread across social media, Taveras could be seen ascending the Palais des Festivals staircase in a stunning white gown featuring a long train with an image of Jesus printed on it. The guard was seen gesturing for her to move along the carpet after she displayed her dress.
As they exchanged words, the guard kept her arm up, trying to guide Taveras up the stairs. However, when Taveras reached the top and attempted to fan out her dress, she pushed the guard’s arm away.
She waved at fans before the guard raised her arm again to move her from the carpet. Taveras then appeared to push her arm away and spoke to her heatedly once more.
This incident draws parallels with a recent event involving Kelly Rowland and the same security guard at the Marcello Mio premiere. Rowland’s video with the security guard went viral, prompting the singer-actress to explain the situation in an interview with the Associated Press at the amfAR Cannes Gala in France.
Rowland said, “The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. I have a boundary, and I stand by those boundaries, and that is it.” She and the guard had a heated exchange as the star insisted on standing her ground.
Rowland also noted, “There were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off. I stood my ground, and she felt like she had to stand hers, but I stood my ground.”
Footage from that event showed the guard holding an arm out to keep Rowland moving. Although Rowland spoke to her and pointed a finger at one point, the guard continued to move the crowd along the carpet.
Throughout the week, many other celebrities graced the famous steps, including Meryl Streep, Sebastian Stan, and the stars of ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,’ Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky.
The 77th Cannes Film Festival, which began on May 14, will close with the jury’s awards, including the Palme d’Or, announced by Barbie director Greta Gerwig and other members, on Saturday, May 25.
