Alec Baldwin spoke of his mother one year after passing, “We Miss Her.”
Alec Baldwin posted an homage to his mother’s legacy on Instagram on the first anniversary of her loss. Her dedication to breast cancer awareness and research will continue after her death on May 26, 2022. Six children, 25 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren remain to carry on her legacy.
It’s difficult to believe that the matriarch of the Baldwin family died more than a year ago. When speaking of his mother, Carol Baldwin, Alec Baldwin said, “We miss her, but we keep fighting to honor her heritage. In addition to praising The Baldwin Fund,” he urged people to support their battle for change.
As he went on, Alec begged his followers to support his mother’s battle with breast cancer in the 1990s by “helping us carry on the mission she started, to love others, show compassion, and find a cure.” The Baldwin Fund has provided funding for more than 60 research initiatives since its establishment in 2001.
When Alec Baldwin revealed that his mother had passed away in May 2022, he went to considerable measures. She received a breast cancer diagnosis in 1991. Although she was later certified cancer-free, she decided to continue fighting the illness for all the other women who also battle it daily and experience daily suffering.
He went on to praise his mother for the work she had done with SUNY Stony Brook after undergoing cancer treatment. Alec stated in 2022 that Shirley Strum Kenny, the university’s then-president, supported the establishment of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund on the Stony Brook campus.
After some time, another chapter and SUNY Upstate University were founded, and their combined efforts helped raise millions of dollars for breast cancer research and awareness. “She fought and promoted the cause she put so much energy into for the last 25 years of her life,” Alec concluded.
Her legacy is furthered by the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center at Stony Brook Medicine, which was founded in 1996 and treats hundreds of breast cancer patients each year. The hospital also offers a survivorship program for those who have recovered from the disease but still need support.
Beginning with the horrible events that occurred on the Rust set on October 21, 2021, Alec Baldwin has had a challenging past 19 months. Baldwin mistakenly fired what he thought was a fake gun, which proved to be a real one, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins as they were filming a scene.
He was first charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, but the charges were later dropped in April 2023, allowing Baldwin to begin the grieving process. After the tragic event, he reportedly told his wife he no longer wanted to be a public figure.
More recently, Alec Baldwin got into trouble after it was claimed that he reprimanded a waiter on May 18 at the 2023 PEN America Spring Literary Gala. Alec appeared to object to the waitress commencing to place plates on the table because he was talking to someone else at the moment.
One source stated, “I’m guessing he felt it was rude of her to start putting plates down while he was standing there,” and that the waitress was perplexed as to why he yelled at her. Even so, it was a brief conversation that not all guests seemed to notice.
