After giving up just one thing, Valerie Bertinelli shows off an astonishing weight loss makeover.

Valerie Bertinelli has a rock star son, is a celebrity, was married to a rock star, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, her struggles with her weight and love life have overshadowed her over 50 years of achievements.

Hollywood’s sweetheart is currently losing weight and shedding the baggage that formerly led her to believe that a person’s physical appearance determines how lovable they are.

Valerie Bertinelli, now 63 years old, first caught Norman Lear’s eye when she appeared in an episode of the TV show Apple’s Way when she was only 14 years old. Norman Lear was the creator behind many iconic 1970s TV sitcoms, including All in the Family, Maude, Sanford, and Sons, and One Day at a Time.

Bertinelli was chosen to play Barbara, the sister of Julie, played by Mackenzie Philips, and the daughter of Bonnie Franklin’s character Ann Romano.

By the time Bertinelli was 22, she had won two Golden Globes for her work on the well-liked television program that aired from 1975 until 1984. She also fell in love with Eddie Van Halen, with whom she was wed from 1981 until 2007. Wolfgang, the couple’s only child, was born in 1991. Eddie passed away from cancer in 2020 with Bertinelli by his side. The two remained close.

After appearing in several short-lived TV shows, such as Friends’ Sydney with Matthew Perry, Bertinelli joined the cast of Touched by an Angel as a regular as Gloria in the final two seasons.

Her skill was too great to ignore. She co-starred in the immensely famous television comedy series Hot in Cleveland, which followed the lives of three aging entertainers, from 2010 to 2015 alongside the iconic Betty White.

Since then, she has evolved into a celebrity chef, hosting Food Network programs like Valerie’s Home Cooking and Kids Baking Championship, the latter of which earned her two Daytime Emmy Awards.

Fans have seen her shifting weight throughout her illustrious career. She started working as a spokesperson for Jenny Craig when she was 47 and weighed 172 pounds. Fans closely followed her highly publicized weight-loss quest.

Two years later, she celebrated her 49th birthday, shed 50 pounds, and posed in a sexy green bikini for the People 2019 cover.

Bertinelli stated, “I started to gain weight as soon as the photo shoot ended,” in a People article. I was working out twice a day while starving myself. Some people, but not me, can look that way without doing it. Shame also comes from contributing to the illusion that it is possible for others to be a part of the issue. I fell for it all over heels, but I neglected to take care of my head and heart, and I believe that’s where it all began.

She disclosed that body shaming, which began when she was very young, made her more susceptible when she was on TV.

Bertinelli remembers a reporter telling her she looked like “a ton of lard” next to Phillips, battling drug addiction, while filming One Day at a Time.

Even before she began acting, she recalled, “I watched my father treat my mother badly when she would gain weight.” She continued, “I had a fifth-grade teacher poke my belly and say, ‘You want to keep an eye on that.'” I, therefore, discovered at a very young age that gaining weight makes you unlovable. And I’m discovering that being lovable has nothing to do with your physical appearance.

She now understands that to change her connection with food, she must concentrate on “the mental and emotional work,” which includes getting over her marriage to Vitale, to whom she was wed from 2011 to 2022.

Even though she hasn’t been explicit, Bertinelli has been open in her general remarks regarding those who experience emotional abuse in their relationships.

Bertinelli said on Instagram in January, “When it comes to emotional abuse and mental abuse, it’s not talked about because you just assume, “I’m not being physically attacked, so it’s not abuse.”

However, the actor and novelist find healing through mindfulness, “journaling, therapy, and especially humor.” The severe manipulation of the body’s connective tissue, known as rolfing, is one of her methods. She describes it as “so painful, but there’s a release that happens that’s helpful.”

“I worked incredibly, incredibly hard. physically, unquestionably. She told People, “I wish to God that I had worked just as hard on my mental shape. But I’ll start eating if I don’t address what’s making me sick.

Bertinelli recently shared a video on Instagram showing her admirers how her waist is getting smaller. Therefore, it’s probably time for me to drop another jean size. It’s unbelievable. And it all began in November, the month I became free, she remarked in the video while speaking of her divorce from Vitale. “And I focused on improving my emotional and mental well-being. And after that, I became more concerned with the food I placed in my body.

“The harsh words and abuse can never be unheard and taken back, but here’s the thing, I wouldn’t have taken them in and believed them in the first place if I hadn’t been saying harsh and unkind words to myself first,” she says in the piece.

Fans commented, “Seeing you always gives me hope,” and “I love you, Val.” in response to her insightful message. You have no idea how much you motivated me to get up and move so I could escape my depressive gloom. Now, I’m a lot happier. You have no idea how much your travels have benefited me.

Bertinelli says in the same tape that she has “cut back exponentially” on alcohol, which has assisted her in losing weight. She explains that she was “carrying that load for protection,” but that protection is no longer necessary. I’m beginning to adore myself truly. Deep down…Be gentle to yourself, please, due to your merit. All of us do. We are sufficient.

One reader comments on her post: “You are more than enough!! You are stunning! Even though I don’t personally know you, I regard you as a caring, compassionate mother and role model (those kids on kids baking! Aside from being adorable, you are also a child of God. For you, I pray for Joy! You don’t need to dedicate time to those keyboard cowboys propagating their hate!!”

Since Bertinelli broke free from Vitale’s control—whom she called a “narcissist” who attacked her weight—she has been frequently questioned if she’s ready to start dating again.

She responds with a funny “the f— no” while lip-syncing to BoyWithUke’s 2021 song “Two Moons” on Instagram.

In an interview with People, she claims that social media enables her to communicate with “kind people.” “To connect with people and, ideally, make them feel good about themselves would be a gift. The first step in treating others kindly is to treat ourselves.

She keeps that sexy green bikini hidden in a drawer, in case you’re wondering what happened to it. The green bikini was a size large, which she found amusing. “I was still wearing a large despite being at my lowest weight in decades. What we should be celebrating is everyone’s shape.

Wolfgang, 32, is a rocker who just opened for Metallica, continuing a family tradition.

Last but not least, if you believe Bertinelli is one of the famous people who doesn’t genuinely read comments on their social media, reconsider.

She shared a “why did you do that” footage on Instagram in January, and one outspoken follower gave her the blatantly apparent advice: “You need to let it go and move on. He continues to emotionally manipulate you more and more the more effort you put into this. Maura, I’ve moved on, Bertinelli retorted, adding, “Thank you.”

We adore Valerie Bertinelli so much! Which of her shows do you prefer to watch? Which do you like her better, as a cook or a comic?
