Pat Sajak’s final turn as host of Wheel of Fortune will be the following season.

The end of an era is near. The 40-year presenter Pat Sajak announced his intention to hang up the mic and depart from the iconic game show.

Sajak’s retirement has been a long time coming; he first hinted that he would be leaving the show in 2021. He told Entertainment Tonight that “we’re closer to the end than the beginning.” I would rather go before fans tune in and wonder, “Ooh, what happened to him?”

The following year, the Daytime Emmy winner again hinted about leaving, telling the same outlet that he is happy with how well he has fulfilled his commitments and is ready to hand the reigns over to someone else.

Years whiz by swiftly. The end is nearly upon us, he declared. “It’s an honor to have spent so much time in people’s living rooms. We were greeted by people outdoors. We feel content and pleased.

Sajak is prepared to say goodbye after appearing on “Wheel of Fortune” for over 40 years.

After the 2023–2024 season, Pat Sajak will no longer serve as “Wheel of Fortune” host. The legendary host announced that he was ending his record-breaking tenure as the longest-running game show host on television via a tweet.

“Well, now is the right time. Our 41st season, which starts in September, will be my last, I’ve decided,” he wrote. “I’ll have more to say in the upcoming months. It’s been a beautiful trip. Thank you all very much.”

“A timeless symbol of hilariously dry humor and fun in my home… Thank you for 42 wonderful years,” one supporter commented. “I’ve spent the most of my life watching you! My favorite program is @WheelofFortune!” Another person said, “Thank you for all the lovely years.”

“Wheel of Fortune” has been directed by Sajak since 1981. Although he won’t be the host anymore, Sony Pictures Television revealed that he would continue to work on the program as a consultant behind the scenes.
