Catherine O’Hara, 68, says she will never have surgery and shares her beauty regimen that keeps her looking beautiful.

Catherine O’Hara is a Canadian actress, comedian, writer, and singer who has contributed significantly to the entertainment industry over the years. O’Hara was born on March 4, 1954, in Toronto, Canada, into a large family and developed an early interest in performing. She attended Burnhamthorpe Collegiate Institute before attending Centennial College to study fine arts.

O’Hara’s career in show business began in the 1970s, when she joined Toronto’s Second City comedy troupe, where she honed her skills as a performer and writer. Later, she joined the cast of the popular sketch comedy show “SCTV,” where she played memorable characters, including the famous talk show hostess Lola Heatherton. This was the start of a successful comedy career that would lead to numerous awards and recognition in the years to come.

O’Hara has had a number of memorable roles in films and television shows throughout her career. She has collaborated with notable directors such as Tim Burton and appeared in classic films such as “Beetlejuice” and the holiday classic “Home Alone.” O’Hara is also well-known for her work as a voice actress, having provided her voice for a number of popular animated films and television shows, including the Disney/Pixar hit “Monster’s Inc.” and the acclaimed Canadian-American television series “Schitt’s Creek.”

O’Hara has won numerous awards for her work over the years. In addition to being nominated for several other awards, she has been nominated for six Primetime Emmy Awards and has won two of them.

While appearances will always be important in the entertainment industry, O’Hara has refused to be swayed by the latest cosmetic trends, instead relying on more tried-and-true skincare regimens to keep her looking young.

In the classic 1990 Christmas film “Home Alone,” O’Hara played Kate McCallister, the mother of Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister. While it’s difficult to imagine the film without O’Hara as the mother of five, she was almost not cast.

O’Hara was not the producers’ first choice for the role, according to Metro. That honor instead went to another talented actress, Elizabeth Perkins, who is also married to the film’s cinematographer, Julio Macat. When Perkins turned down the offer, Macat revealed in December 2022 that producers would have to settle for their second choice.

“‘John Hughes asked her to play Catherine O’Hara, and she couldn’t because she was too busy,” Macat explained.

In an ironic twist, O’Hara might have missed out on another role that has brought her a lot of success today: Moira Rose on “Schitt’s Creek.” Again, it’s difficult to imagine the sitcom without O’Hara, but the show’s star and creator, Eugene Levy, revealed she initially turned down the role.

“She was the first to arrive. Except for Catherine, we had no other plans. The question was, could we persuade her to do it?” Levy informed Buzzfeed. Even though she had already said no, Levy persuaded her to do the pilot presentation.

“He was well aware of what he was doing. He knew I’d be there, “In the same Buzzfeed interview, O’Hara stated.

In 2020, O’Hara won her first acting Emmy for the role. The show, which premiered on January 13, 2015, ran for six seasons, with the series finale airing on April 7, 2020.

In 2022, O’Hara will be 68 years old. In a notoriously youth-centric industry, it’s not uncommon to hear aging stars going under the knife or getting injections to maintain their youthful appearance and remain relevant. As a result, it’s refreshing to hear O’Hara’s perspective on beauty, in which she rejects the cosmetic procedures that have become so common in this day and age.

The actress said she sees nothing wrong with getting older and considers herself fortunate to be still alive.

“First and foremost, I consider myself fortunate to be alive, so I don’t mind aging,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. She also thanked “Schitt’s Creek” creators Levy and his son Dan Levy for casting mature women in the show and entrusting her with one of them. “I’m so grateful to the Levy gentlemen for allowing me to continue my career.”

O’Hara is well aware of Hollywood’s penchant for squeezing out older women, but she is adamant that she will never go down that path.

“I’m a freak because I’ve never had anything done to my face,” she continued. “I don’t want surgery, and I don’t want needles, except for acupuncture needles. We should embrace, respect, and love ourselves for who we are.”

“I’m afraid of needles, except acupuncture needles,” O’Hara told Today.

This may help to explain why O’Hara practices self-care more traditionally.

“I wouldn’t mind investing more time, effort, and money in my skincare regimen. And I’m sure they’ll come out with more noninvasive and healthy ways to keep your face looking as good as it can, as they already are, “She went on to say.
