Bob Barker’s Longtime Girlfriend Provides an Update on the Legendary Game Show Host
Bob Barker, the renowned game show presenter best known for anchoring The Price Is Right, turned 99 years old on December 12.
Barker has spent nearly 40 years of his life with his companion, girlfriend Nancy Burnet. While speaking with Fox News Digital, Burnet provided a few updates regarding Barker with his fans.
Burnet said of his health, “he’s going to be 99, and he takes one prescription medication, and that’s for his thyroid.”
“And his health-care providers or anyone who comes in to see him will say, ‘Well, we’d like a list of his drugs.'” “Let me simply show you the bottle,” I’ll say.
As Burnet continues, she adds that Barker, although being 99, is “in excellent health for his age, and his humor is still in good shape. He’s had a blessed life.”
Burnet said she and Barker would have a “fundamental and quiet” celebration at their home with cake to commemorate the start of another year around the sun.
Burnet attributed Barker’s good health to his decision to go vegan at her request almost 20 years ago. “It wasn’t to replace meals but to complement them,” she explained. “He needed to take that to his meals because he wasn’t feeling well.”
Barker retired in 2007 after a 50-year presenting career, 35 of which were spent hosting The Price Is Right. As the show’s executive producer, he has 14 Daytime Emmy Awards and 4 Emmy Awards.
According to Burnet, Barker still remembers his hosting days fondly. She believes that’s why he’s been so successful.
“He never got tired of it. So maybe that’s why it was so successful: he was always ready and willing to do it.”
