Major Backlash Towards Brittany Aldean Over ‘Tomboy’ Video

These days, you have to be extra careful when you talk about gender, gender transiting, or anything that is associated with it, especially when you are in the limelight. You would not want to experience the major backlash that Brittany Aldean received over a joke about gender transitioning.

On August 23, Brittany Aldean, wife of country singer Jason Aldean, posted a video on her Instagram. She is seen transforming from a bare face to full makeup. She is strongly criticized not because of the makeup, but what she wrote in the caption.

She wrote:

“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life.”

Among those who reacted was singer Cassadee Pope. That statement did not sit well with her so she slammed Aldean on her Instagram story and Twitter. She wrote: “You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging. But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their “tomboy phase” to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”

Singer Maren Morris also tweeted her own response backing Cassadee Pope, whom she toured with, calling Brittany Aldean an “Insurrection Barbie.” She wrote: “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.”

Brittany Aldean responded to Cassadee Pope on her Instagram story writing that “advocating for the genital mutilation under the disguise of love and calling it ‘Gender Affirming Care,’ is one of the worst evils.”

Of course, she did not pass on the chance to also respond to Maren Morris on her Instagram story, writing, “Karen Morris. Thanks for calling me Barbie.”

Candace Owens, a conservative commentator who is also a good friend of Brittany Aldean came to her defense on Twitter. Owens responded to Maren Morris, saying, “It’s easier to not castrate your children. But I guess whatever helps sell bad records.”

Candace Owens considers this bullying. She took to her Instagram story to call Owens out, writing:

“Here is what we are no longer doing going into 2023. We are no longer allowing vicious bullies to hide behind LGBTQ flags and BLM banners. We are no longer allowing people to be repeatedly attacked because they don’t support the mutilation of children. That’s the New Year’s resolution for America.”

On August 31st, Brittany took to Instagram to share her new merch and also touched on the topic of how she was not understood in her video. This features the words “Don’t tread on our kids” in a classic Barbie font. She wrote in the caption:

“Per usual, my words have been taken out of context over the last week. Instead of getting twisted about the twisting of my words, I’ve chosen to bring some good out of it. Introducing our NEW Barbie inspired line LIVE **Through this launch we will be giving back to and supporting @operationlightshine in effort to help fight child exploitation and human trafficking.”

If a persons’ gender does not align with the sex assigned at their birth, the term they use is “transgender. ” but you have to remember that gender identity is not the same thing as gender expression, i. e. being a “tomboy. ” That is why it is very important that you know how to use these terms and understand what they really mean because if not, it would be easy for others to misunderstand your point.
