Andrea Evans, the former star of The Young and the Restless, died at 66.
The actress was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her work as Tina.
Andrea Evans, one of daytime television’s most popular personalities, died at 66, leaving the world in sadness.
Don Carroll, her longtime manager, disclosed on Sunday that the acclaimed actress died of cancer. Her current manager, Nick Leicht, expressed his condolences on her passing.
“I’ve been working with Andrea for the past seven years. She was a fantastic artist and a delight to work with.”
Andrea, a well-known daytime actor, is best remembered for her roles on One Life to Live as disturbed adolescent Tina Lord and The Young and the Restless as Patty Williams.
Her performance as Tina earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Ingenue in a Drama Series 1988.
Former One Life to Live executive producer Frank Valentini and current General Hospital EP Frank Valentini paid respect to the late star on Twitter.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of Andrea Evans’ passing,” he said. “Andrea was already a big star when I started at OLTL.”
“She was always gracious and kind, and it was a pleasure to work with her. A lunchtime legend who will be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to her friends and family.”
Andrea received another Daytime Emmy nomination in 2015 for Outstanding Actress in a New Approaches Drama Series for her work as Vivian Price in the web series DeVanity.
Andrea’s other notable daytime drama appearances include Rebecca Hotchkiss on Passions and Patty Walker on The Bay.
She also appeared in A Low Down Dirty Shame, Ice Cream Man, and Hit List, among other films and television shows. Andrea left One Life to Live in the 1990s to seek a career break and went forgotten for a long time.
She told the magazine 2008 that a traumatic encounter with a stalker drove her to withdraw from the spotlight. “It’s forever changed me,” she admitted. “There’s no way it could not.”
In the same year, the beloved actress resumed her role as Tina in a cameo appearance on One Life to Live.
Her comeback was a much-anticipated event, with Executive Producer Valentini telling TV Guide in 2008 that fans had anticipated her return for years.
“Even though Andrea has not appeared on OLTL since 1990, she has remained among the most requested characters to return to the show,” he explained.
“I welcome her back to OLTL and the role where she left an indelible imprint on our audience.”
Andrea is survived by her husband, Stephen Rodriguez, whom she married in 1998, and their daughter, Kylie. She married her One Life to Live co-star Wayne Massey from 1981 to 1983.
